Cara Sadira

President

With a Master's in Nonprofit Management, a Bachelor's in Recreation Management and outdoor guide certifications such as PaddleFit, Tree Climbers International, and NOLS.  Cara has over 20 years of experience directing grassroots nonprofit projects.  She has raised and successfully managed over $2.5 million for community projects and has experience directing programs for foster youth family violence and immigrants.  She is also a survivor of a violent attack, after which she spent 2.5 years rock climbing to recover.

Limor Farber

Secretary

As a business owner of a successful Web Strategy and Graphic Design business for over 11 years, Limor is skilled organizing strategy for nonprofit communications through consistent branding and messaging, web design, print and electronic publications and solicitations.  Limor raised her three children while running her own business as a single parent.  She also spent a great deal of time rock climbing, hiking, and paddleboarding with her children, and is a firm believer in the power of outdoor adventure to shape and develop strength in women and children.

Sarah Blankenbaker

Treasurer

With a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and over 10 years of experience with community health projects that involve mothers and children, Sarah is an advocate for programs that provide opportunities for mothers and their children to thrive through the prevention & treatment of maternal and childhood conditions. She is an active board member of various community nonprofits and raised her daughter as a single-parent while ensuring a life of zero-debt.  She actively reviews the finances of Rising Up Adventures on a monthly basis.

Sandra LaFleur

Advisor of Strategic Planning

As Miami Dade College’s Director of Social Change Initiative, her role at the largest public institution of higher education focuses on building and sustaining the College’s social impact education ecosystem. She works with MDC’s eight campus teams to embed changemaking education into both curricular and co-curricular opportunities. Sandra’s past experience in the youth development and college success fields have focused on strategy setting, operational planning, organizational growth and change management, program/product design and execution, innovation and research, talent, and communications. Sandra earned her MS degree in Sociology from Florida State University and a dual BA degree from the University of Miami in History/Sociology.

Trips for Kids

As a chapter of Trips for Kids, Rising Up Adventures receives mentoring from various  Trips for Kids chapters, as well as assistance with marketing, social media, fundraising, and sponsorship.  Rising Up Adventures received 5 Giant Bicycles for our Trips for Kids Rising Up program, and will receive a 50% discount on all Giant purchases for our social enterprise bike programs.  We also will receive Zevia healthy drinks for all of our youth participants and volunteers, as well as water bottles, helmets, etc.  Our National Chapters Director is invested in our success and meets monthly to discuss strategy.

Dr. James Pann

Advisor of Evaluation

Associate Professor of Psychology at Nova Southeastern University, and Principal Consultant of EvalNetwork, a research and evaluation consulting firm, Dr. Pann has led a variety of grant funded research and evaluation studies related to domestic violence and specialty courts, mental illness, and homelessness, youth gang involvement, women’s health promotion and prevention, nutrition and physical activity interventions and out-of-school services.  He is a licensed psychologist in Florida and an active member of the American Evaluation Association.
